 Dear Colleagues, I am delighted to share the news that Professor Kathleen Treseder has been honored with the 2024 Robert H. MacArthur Award from the Ecological Society of America (ESA). This prestigious award is bestowed upon an established ecologist in mid-career who has made significant contributions to the field of ecology, with the expectation of continuing to produce outstanding ecological research. Professor Treseder’s work, which expertly combines theoretical and empirical approaches, has profoundly advanced our understanding of ecological interactions and processes, particularly in the context of plant-microbe relationships, soil dynamics and ecosystem responses to climate changes. Professor Treseder’s impact is further highlighted by her impressive citation record — over 28,000 citations for her publications — and her successful leadership on grants totaling more than $7 million in recent years. Her work not only contributes to our understanding of ecological systems but also addresses critical public health issues, such as the spread of pathogens influenced by climate change.
