Henrique Teotonio, Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris

Adaptation to fluctuating environments: When individuals have information during development about the environment they will face at the time of reproduction adaptation is expected to occur by the evolution of phenotypic plasticity. However, information about future environments might only be available to parental generations and in these circumstances adaptation is expected to occur by the evolution of transgenerational phenotypic plasticity.  I will present evolution experiments in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans that test these predictions about adaptation to fluctuating environments.

Henrique graduated with a PhD from our program >20 years ago! I coerced him into coming back to Irvine following a west coast meeting.
